Darkest Dungeon 2 is Getting a New Standalone Campaign This Year

Darkest Dungeon 2, developed by Red Hook Studios, is set to enhance its gameplay with an intriguing new mode called Kingdoms, available as a free update later this year. This mode, operating as an independent campaign, will offer players a challenging adventure where they must quickly overcome a menacing threat that risks destroying an entire kingdom.

In the Kingdoms mode, players will explore harsh terrains to collect essential resources, clash with new enemy groups—namely The Coven, Beastmen, and Crimson Courtiers—and safeguard their refuges, such as the inns where they can rest. The resources collected will be crucial for upgrading the heroes' capabilities and the inns' defenses. Additionally, players will delve into newly introduced and detailed upgrade trees to further enhance their strategic options.

Red Hook Studios highlights that it is not mandatory to have played the original campaign of Darkest Dungeon 2 to enjoy the Kingdoms mode. For those interested in a preview, the announcement trailer provides a quick look into the enthralling experiences this new campaign will bring.

Presently, Darkest Dungeon 2 is exclusive to PC, but based on recent classifications in Brazil, the game could potentially be expanded to include versions for PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch platforms in the near future.
